At 5am this morning, Minnie and I headed to the Flower Markets as we had discussed the night before. We were on a recon mission for my gorgeous friend’s 40th. It seemed like a much better idea the night before than at 5am when our alarms went off, as our hair will attest to.
This is one of my favourite places in Sydney. The sounds of vendors and florists running around, the wet floors, cold air, the smell of the flowers, the hectic pace of parking amongst all the vans filling steadily with bouquets of blossoms, and of course the sight of all those flowers in one place. Heaven.
Bunches of Roses, I. Am. In. Love.
Minnie is learning about money in math at the moment, and I thought this would be a great opportunity for some time together but also a chance to practice her math skills in the real world. So today Minnie was in charge of the money and calculating our costs. She paid for all our flowers and at each stop had to work out what to use and what change she should receive.
Considering I had to work today it was great to be able to be out and about, getting an early start to learning.
This was a super fun and incredibly pretty way to homechool today. As a thank you for all her work, Minnie got to choose a bunch of flowers for her room, naturally she chose Pink tulips, who wouldn’t?
We were absolutely ready for breakfast by this stage and so began our trip home, but not without a moment by the Sunflowers.
We stopped at Minnie’s favourite Cafe for breakfast and delighted in the dark rainy morning over a blueberry smoothie.
We quickly checked the World Clock to see if we were in time to call my brother who lives in Sweden, Minnie loves her uncle so much and has been begging to Face Time him. As it turned out it was perfect timing and so we had upgraded our breakfast to an international family meet up with Uncle Tim. LOVE.
After arriving home we got straight to placing our flowers around the home. These Roses are my favourites today.
Plain and Simple, but lovely.
But perhaps the Waratahs in our old blue bathroom won the day.
How I love fresh flowers at home.
I set the kids up with their tasks and they happily did their book work with Shane, before heading over to me for kids and youth church groups in the afternoon. It’s been a long day and I’m ready to sleep now.
I hope your day has been lovely, full of beauty and delight.
Lots of Love x
