Nutella Freckle Slice

Tis the season, almost. Here is a baking idea for a real little treat, definitely only a sometimes food, originally from a little Australian Women’s Weekly cookbook I have had for years. Because it is so cute and simple it’s a nice little gift {for those who are allergy free}.

185g {6 1/2 oz} Unsalted Butter {Softened}

220g {7 1/2 oz}Nutella or another type of chocolate hazelnut spread

1/3 C Brown Sugar

1 3/4 C Plain Flour

200g{7oz} Packet of Freckles

Preheat Oven to 160°C {140°C Fan Forced} 320°F or {284° F Fan forced}

Beat Butter, Nutella and Sugar until combined

Add flour gradually

Nutella Slice

Press into prepared pan {20 x 30cm slice tin or 8 x 12 inches}, you can smooth the surface with a spatula or the back of a spoon. Bake for 25 minutes.

When it comes out of the oven to cool, carefully place the freckles on top of the slice {I only touch the freckles and not the hot slice or pan}. The heat should melt the chocolate a little bit and as it cools will stick to the slice. Cut into squares once cooled.
